A Rectifier is an electrical device which converts the Alternating voltage (A.C) /current in to the Direct voltage (D.C) /current. This type of device is called as Rectifier. And the process is called is called as rectification. It is device which performs the reverse operation i.e. it convert a A.C quantity to D.C quantity
Rectifier Is Of Two Types:
1) Full-Wave Rectifier.
2) Half-Wave Rectifier.

Construction Of Full-Wave Rectifier:
The input supply voltage is given to the Primary coil of the transformer which is V =Vo Sinωt and the primary coil is linked with Secondary coil with the help of mutual induction having a soft iron core in between the coils. And the Secondary coil is connected to a Diodes(D1 and D2) and then it connected with the Load Resistance(RL) which is centered tapped between the diodes where output has to be taken.
Working Of Full-Wave Rectifier:
When the positive half cycle is fed into the primary coil. Let us consider the P1 acquire the negative polarity and P2 get positive. Due to principle of mutual induction S1 will acquire the positive and S2 will acquire the negative polarity. Hence the Diode D1 becomes the forward biased (as S1 acquire the positive polarity) and it conducts and the Diode D2 becomes reversed biased (as S2 acquire the gets negative polarity) and it does not conduct . So, a positive output is obtained across the load resistance. When a negative half cycle is fed into the primary coil the P1 acquire positive polarity and P2 will acquire the negative polarity and then the diode D1 will become reversed biased as S1 acquire the gets negative polarity) and this diode will not conduct and the Diode D2 becomes forward biased (as S2 acquire the gets positive polarity) and it conducts and output is obtained across the load resistance. So, for the Positive half cycle Diode D1 will conduct and for the Negative half cycle Diode D2 will conduct this process repeated many times and we receive the output bot for the positive half cycle and Negative Half cycle. The output is obtained is in the form of Direct Voltage but with varying magnitude and this type of voltage is called as Pulsating D.C Voltage. Full wave rectifier is used much because its efficiency is high than Half wave rectifier.
